A total of 55 probationers with heroin abuse histories were randomly assigned to an experimental 11-hour 'Job Seekers' Workshop' or to a 3-hour information only control workshop to compare the effect of the two workshops.
Abstract
The two groups were found to differ on scales measuring interview skills and on rate of employment. By 3 months posttreatment, approximately 86 percent of experimental subjects had found employment as compared to 54 percent of the controls. Differences between conditions were apparent as early as 1 week posttreatment. Comparisons with results obtained with other samples of drug abusers are discussed. About 20 references are supplied.
