After describing the methodology for a 1981 evaluation of community corrections programs in Oregon, Colorado, and Connecticut, this report presents the questionnaire and response data for each question.
Abstract
Data were collected to evaluate the effectiveness of the community corrections programs and to identify the factors contributing to success. In-person field interviews and mail questionnaires were used at the State, county, and district levels. Study variables reflected the characteristics of persons who implement and maintain the programs; the degree of commitment to programs held by judicial and prison officials; community support; and the goals of cost reduction, work training, and rehabilitation. Data are contained in eight files. Three files of SPSS-X control cards document the eight data files. There are 920 cases in Connecticut, 317 on Colorado, and 444 in Oregon. The logical record length of all the files is 80 characters. Most of the questionnaire items provide for respondents to select from multiple responses. Data accompanying the questionnaire indicate the percentage and absolute number of respondents selecting each response by State.
