This paper looks at the impact of victimization for victims of burglary and car theft, drawing on findings from the first and second sweeps of the British Crime Survey.
Abstract
It examines the sort of emotional and other effects victims report, and discusses the persistence of the effects of victimization. It presents findings on victims' attitudes toward the punishment of 'their' offender. Finally it considers how the experience of victimization affects perceptions of risk, assessments of crime seriousness and punitiveness. (Author abstract)
