This resource guide presents articles and monographs related to each of four topics covered in workshops related to Native American Indian victimization.
Abstract
The topics included historical grief and its relationship to victimization, law enforcement issues in Indian country, promising practices, and victim advocacy. The materials focus on how to positively reinforce the resiliency factors inherent within the interdependent values and philosophies of Native American cultures while addressing the common experience of historical trauma and the creation of culturally appropriate and effective victim assistance models. Additional materials focus on responses to child abuse and neglect, jurisdictional issues in Indian countries, the characteristics of an effective multicultural organization, training in victim advocacy, Federal criminal statutes and Federal relations for Indian country.
