This booklet provides instruction and information to children on what will occur at their stay at a motel and safety procedures to follow while there, including ways to prevent criminal victimization.
Abstract
Information is provided on checking in at the motel, the motel room, the hallway, procedures in case of fire, going to the restaurant, and motel staff. A section on safety procedures advises children to keep the motel door locked at all times, not let a stranger in the room, lock the door when leaving the room, keep the key in a pocket or purse, and not leave valuables lying around the room. Safety procedures for outside the room and around the motel consist of not talking to strangers, not taking anything from a stranger, not giving the room number to a stranger, not going to the restroom alone, not wandering on other floors of the motel, and not going swimming alone. Illustrative drawings are included.
