Abstract
AS THE JUVENILE JUSTICE SYSTEM IS BECOMING DECENTRALIZED AND DEINSTITUTIONALIZED, GROUP HOMES ARE BECOMING AN IMPORTANT ALTERNATIVE TO REFORM SCHOOL FOR CONSIDERATION BY JUVENILE COURT JUDGES AND PROBATION OFFICERS. MANY SOURCES OF DATA ARE AVAILABLE THROUGH STATE PLANNING AGENCIES, THE NATIONAL CRIMINAL JUSTICE REFERENCE SERVICE, AND THE GOVERNMENT PRINTING OFFICE. SOME MATERIALS ARE AVAILABLE THROUGH THE CHILD WELFARE LEAGUE OF AMERICA, THE CALIFORNIA YOUTH AUTHORITY, AND THE HARVARD LAW SCHOOL. RESEARCH STUDIES CARRIED OUT AT ACHIEVEMENT PLACE, A GROUP HOME OPENED BY THE UNIVERSITY OF KANSAS BUREAU OF CHILDREN'S RESEARCH, ARE NOTED. A LIST OF STATE PLANNING AGENCIES IS APPENDED. (DEP)
