These maps, organizational charts, and flow charts show the organization and processes of the criminal justice system in Chicago and Cook County (Illinois).
Abstract
The materials show the basic facts on Cook County, its government, and its crime rates; the organization of the Illinois Department of Law Enforcement, the Cook County Sheriff's Police Department, and the Chicago Police Department; and the components of the Cook County State's Attorney's Office. The figures also describe the public defender's office, the court system, the adult and juvenile probation departments, and the State and county corrections systems. Flow charts show the processing of criminal cases at the Federal, county, and city levels and the processing of juvenile cases. About 30 of the forms used in criminal and juvenile proceedings are also included. The addresses, telephone numbers, staffing levels, and 1982 budgets for each component of the criminal justice system are also provided. Eighteen sources are given.
