This report describes crime trends in Texas, the federally-funded programs for addressing crime, and the eligibility criteria and application process for grant funding for these programs.
Abstract
The State's Criminal Justice Division administers Federal funds under several national laws and performs several other functions in State government. Its annual plan has been restructured for the 1989 fiscal year, so that goals and strategies are published separately from other materials. Programs available for funding through the Criminal Justice Division address the following areas: prevention, detection, apprehension, prosecution, diversion, punishment, rehabilitation, and victim assistance. Funds are available for training, direct and support services, program development, information systems, facilities, coordination, research, program evaluation, and interagency efforts. Form for ordering a grant application kit, addresses of local councils of governments, and grant application information are included.
