Abstract
The book examines the definitions of American national security and how United States military and economic hegemony must be transferred to the legal sphere in order for America to maintain the status quo in its relations with the Third World. There are sections on: (1) National Security and the National Interest, including Manifest Destiny, Building the American Empire, and Foreign Aid as the National Interest; (2) Evolution of the International Legal Regime; (3) Panamanian Pax Americana; (4) Nolo Contendere in Nicaragua; (5) To the Shores of Tripoli; (6) The Politics of Non-Compliance. There is a table of International Court of Justice Court Cases and Advisory Opinions (1947-88). References
