DISCUSSION OF HOW BOTH ON-THE-SCENE EXAMINATION AND LABORATORY INTERPRETATION OF GLASS EVIDENCE CAN BE UTILIZED TO THE POLICE OFFICER'S ADVANTAGE TO HELP HIM WITH THE INVESTIGATION OF CRIMES.
Abstract
THE WAYS IN WHICH GLASS CAN BE USEFUL AS EVIDENCE ARE CONSIDERED - AS TRACE EVIDENCE LINKING A SUSPECT TO THE CRIME SCENE AND TO PROVIDE CLUES AS TO HOW THE CRIME WAS COMMITTED; A DISCUSSION OF THE BREAKING PHENOMENA IS FOLLOWED BY AN OUTLINE OF ANALYSES TO BE CARRIED OUT IN AN INVESTIGATION OF FORCIBLE ENTRY INTO A BUILDING THROUGH GLASS. THE EXAMINATION AND INTERPRETATION OF GLASS FRAGMENTS IN AUTO-RELATED CRIMES, CASES OF ASSAULT WITH A GLASS BOTTLE, AND SHOOTINGS INVOLVING WINDOWS OR OTHER GLASS ARE ALSO BRIEFLY REVIEWED. A DISCUSSION GUIDE AND QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS BASED ON THE TEXT ARE INCLUDED.
