Four methods are described for modifying the Colt AR-15 rifle so that it will fire full automatic.
Abstract
The first conversion involves modifying the AR-15 to accept the M-16 full automatic sear. A .120-inch hole must be drilled through both sides of the receiver. This hold can be seen on the left side. An ability to rotate the selector switch to the 3 o'clock position is another indication this modification has been made. The second method requires substitution of the M-16 selector, trigger, hammer, disconnector, and bolt carrier or converter and use of an AR-15 drop-in sear. The third method requires substitution of only the bolt carrier or using the bolt carrier converter by covering the disconnector hook with a cut-off section of a 223-caliber brass Remington cartridge case. The final method involves inserting a paper clip beneath the forward end of the disconnector and substitution of the bolt carrier or its converter. 1 reference.
