This book memorializes police officers who lost their lives in the course of duty in Coral Gables and South Miami, Florida, between 1928 and 1994.
Abstract
The authors acknowledge that policing is a difficult and dangerous profession and that tremendous stress is associated with the loss of a coworker. Despite the public view of police officers as strong-willed and conscientious individuals who sometimes become hardened by the police system, the authors illustrate that police officers are normal individuals with families, friends, and relatives who care deeply about them. A brief history of the police departments in Coral Gables and South Miami is provided, and descriptions of the circumstances surrounding the death of nine police officers and photographs are included.
