RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN DRUG INVOLVEMENT AND THE FUTURE PERFORMANCE OF OTHER DELINQUENT ACTS BY JUVENILE OFFENDERS.
Abstract
DATA WAS COLLECTED ON PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS OF ARRESTEES, THEIR BACKGROUNDS, AND SUBSEQUENT ARRESTS. IT WAS FOUND THAT THE MAJORITY OF ARRESTEES HAD NO FUTURE ARRESTS FOR DRUG INVOLVEMENT. THE MAJORITY OF OFFENDERS ARRESTED AGAIN FOR DRUG INVOLVEMENT WERE FROM STANDARD-AND-ABOVE SOCIO-ECONOMIC BACKGROUNDS. THE NEED FOR RELIABLE INFORMATION ON THE CONSEQUENCES OF DRUG ABUSE IS STRESSED.
