Abstract
The number of serious offenses known to police remains relatively low in the 78 rural counties of the State in comparison to urban areas. However, both the number of offenses and the rate of offenses per 100,000 population have increased steadily in the rural counties. Each of the seven Index offenses increased in number and two non-Index crimes -- forgery and deceptive practices -- also increased. The document provides maps, tables, and charts.
