More crime was reported in 1980 than in any of the preceding 9 years in Florida, with a total of 803,509 crimes reported statewide.
Abstract
Violent crimes have been increasing at a faster rate than property crimes. More crimes occur in the denser urban areas of the State than elsewhere. A total of 94,088 violent crimes were reported during the year, 1 for every 102 people in the State. The report also gives data on property crimes, arrests, law enforcement manpower and effectiveness, jail populations, demographic profiles of offenders, filings and dispositions, adults under State criminal justice control, parole releases by year, and juvenile processing. Tables compose most of the report. Appended statistical analyses are included.
