Annotation

Project New Pride is to be evaluated on a local and national level. Evaluation responsibilities of project grantees and national evaluation staff are discussed.

Abstract

Evaluation goals involve developing information on client and service issues to define the New Pride model being replicated and refined and determining conditions under which programs can be replicated in different jurisdictions. Local evaluations are to be done on a self-study basis with technical assistance and coordination through the Management Information System (MIS) by the Pacific Institute of Research and Evaluation. At the national level, local data will be used for creating an overall justice system and community impact design, providing program-level feedback, and conducting an assessment of the local self-study evaluations. The local evaluator, who is to be hired and supervised by the project director, will adapt the project form and procedures to the particular site and oversee the collection of program and service data. Arrest, impact, and juvenile justice data are to be entered into the computer terminal by a skilled data coder. The local evaluator will obtain the data from research components and prepare periodic data analyses. Because the local evaluator will perform specific tasks assigned by the national evaluator, possible conflicts of authority with the program director may arise.
