THIS BULLETIN PRESENTS POLICE OFFICER FIRST AID TECHNIQUES RECOMMENDED BY THE AMERICAN RED CROSS AND OTHER INFORMATION OBTAINED FROM THE AMERICAN MEDICAL ASSOCIATION, THE AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION, ETC.
Abstract
INCLUDED ARE DESCRIPTIONS OF SEVERAL EMERGENCY SITUATIONS WHICH CAN LEAD TO THE DEATH OF VICTIMS WHEN QUICK ACTION IS NOT ACTION AND THEIR RECOMMENDED FIRST AID TREATMENT. THE SITUATIONS COVERED ARE TRAUMATIC SHOCK, BLEEDING, STOPPAGE OF BREATH AND CIRCULATION, THE 'CAFE CORONARY (STRANGULATION AT THE DINNER TABLE CAUSED BY A BOLUS OF FOOD STUCK IN THE WINDPIPE), POISONING, RESCUES, AND OTHER FIRST AID EMERGENCIES, INCLUDING EMERGENCY CHILDBIRTH, HEART ATTACKS, AND EPILEPTIC CONVULSIONS.
