Female criminality, connected with changes in women's social position and family development, has become a considerable social problem which must be considered from several perspectives.
Abstract
Views on female criminality do not only point to the scientific authority and applicability of criminology, but also to the influence of social conditions on women's roles in social life. Theories in criminology have recently shifted from biological and physiological perspectives to a demasculinized and more pluralistic viewpoint. Emphasis is now placed on examining closely the sociopolitical, national, ethnic, social, political, and other components leading to female deviance. Thus, more research will further explain female criminal behavior and cause reconceptualization of some theories related to its genesis. A total of 52 footnotes and 40 references are provided.
