DISCUSSION OF THREE BOOKS AND THE APPLICATION OF THEIR PRINCIPLES TO THE CORRECTIONS FIELD IN THE FACE OF CHANGE IN OUR SOCIETY.
Abstract
THE AUTHOR EXAMINES WORKS BY NISBET, ORTEGA Y GASSET, AND TOFFLER, AND CONCLUDES THAT WE NEED TO IMPLEMENT FULLY ORTEGA Y GASSET'S DEMOCRATIC IDEALS THROUGH THE USE OF TECHNOLOGY AND THROUGH AN INFORMATION SYSTEM RESEMBLING A LOOP RATHER THAN A LADDER. INFORMATION MUST PULSE THROUGH THIS LOOP AT ACCELERATING SPEEDS, WITH THE OUTPUT OF ONE GROUP BECOMING THE INPUT FOR MANY OTHERS, SO THAT NO GROUP, HOWEVER POLITICALLY POTENT IT MAY SEEM, CAN INDEPENDENTLY SET GOALS FOR THE WHOLE. HOW DO WE DO THESE THINGS? BY TOWN-HALL VOLUNTEERISM, MADE POSSIBLE ONCE AGAIN BY MODERN TECHNOLOGY. AUTHOR MODIFIED.
