This home web page briefly describes the features of the U.S. Justice Department's Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS') Federal Criminal Case Processing Statistics (FCCPS) tool, which is an interface that can be used to analyze Federal case processing data, and access is provided to the FCCPS' data tables and trends pertinent to law enforcement, prosecution/courts, and incarceration.
Abstract
Users of the FCCPS tool can generate various statistics in these criminal justice statistical areas for the years between 1994 and 2014. This tool includes data on offenders held for violating Federal laws, but excludes commitments from the D.C. Superior Court. The tables and trends pertinent to law enforcement relate to suspects in investigations initiated, persons arrested and booked, and suspects in investigations concluded. FCCPS tables and trends on prosecution/courts address defendants charged in criminal cases, defendants in criminal cases closed, and offenders sentenced. Tables and trends for incarceration-related data cover prisoners entering Federal prison, prisoners in Federal prison at year-end, and prisoners exiting Federal prison. Tabs for this web page address the features of FCCP, a FCCP data dictionary, and a Federal justice statistics page.
