This study investigates the correlation between fear of crime and victimization, age, gender, and selected social variables based on data collected from over 1800 respondents, aged 15 years and older.
Abstract
The effects of predictor variables on fear of crime were analyzed using separate multiple regression techniques. The findings indicate that victimization is the most powerful predictor of fear of crime for the entire sample and for each subsample. Gender, age, and race also impact on fear of crime. 2 tables, 37 references. (Author abstract modified)
