This December 2011 issue contains two feature articles and six department columns.
Abstract
This issue contains two feature articles: 1) The Employee Wellness Plan (EWP) which describes how law enforcement administrators should focus a sufficient amount of attention on the full spectrum of officer wellness to improve recruitment and retention, enhance job satisfaction, and reduce employee absenteeism; and 2) Analyzing Organizational Performance which discusses how agencies must identify and address important employee-related factors. The six department columns include: 1) Leadership Spotlight on Tunnel Vision which describes how General Robert E. Lee's may have experienced leadership tunnel vision before he finally secured the defeat of the Confederate South at the Battle of Gettysburg; 2) Peel's Legacy which describes how Robert Peel, known as the father of modern community policing, helped establish a native Irish police force to calm conflicts that arose in Ireland after its 1801 unification with England; 3) Police Practice, Young Drivers and Alcohol which educates high school students of the dangers associated with drinking and driving; 4) Bulletin Honors San Leandro Public Safety Memorial which describes the new memorial that honors police officers and firefighters in California; and 5) 2011 Subject Index and 6) 2011 Author Index.
