This October 2012 issue of the FBI Law Enforcement Bulletin includes three feature articles and six regular department articles.
Abstract
This issue contains three feature articles: 1) "Community Policing to Prevent Violent Extremism" examines how law enforcement is moving forward using the community policing philosophy to address violent extremism; 2) "Mastering Rapport and Having Productive Conversations" describes how investigators cannot maximize their success without effective interpersonal skills; and 3) "Becoming More Resilient" describes how anyone can develop the resilience they need to live an enriched life, even in the midst of trials. Six regular department articles are provided : 1) Different Voices discusses diversity in the workplace; 2) ViCAP Alert provides a violent crime alert for a serial murderer; 3) Strengthening Police Organizations Through Interpersonal Leadership examines leading debriefing meetings and task groups; 4) Bulletin Honors describes the Canton, Ohio Police Memorial; 5) Bulletin Report discusses strategy for adopting the Project 25 radio interoperability standards; and 6) Bulletin Notes recognizes officers whose actions warrant special attention from their respective departments.
