This report provides a profile and overview of inmates within the facilities of the Washington Department of Corrections for fiscal year 2008.
Abstract
Data in this report are presented in table format providing comprehensive information on offender characteristics, population movement, and custody of offenders under the jurisdiction of the State of Washington Department of Corrections Adult Correctional Facilities as of December 31, 2007. Data on the inmate population address the average daily population and capacity by month, as well as by facility and the average daily female population and capacity by month. Characteristics of the residents, facilities, and work release are presented in a distribution table format in the areas of prison facility, race and Hispanic origin, offense categories, age, gender, and by county of conviction. In the area of admissions to facilities, data are distributed by month of admission, type of admission, gender, race and Hispanic origin, county, and offense, as well as new admission versus readmission. Data on releases from adult correctional facilities are distributed by month, type of release specifically release type by race and Hispanic origin, length of stay, new admission versus readmission, gender, offense, and releases by special sentences (i.e., violators). Data in the area of custody distributions of residents within facilities are distributed by custody classification by location, by most recent placement reason for nonstandard minimum assignments, by population assignment and gender, by gender and score, by override reason and score, and risk management type distribution of all inmates.
