RECOMMENDATION THAT PRISONERS BE GIVEN THE SAME CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS AS OTHER CITIZENS.
Abstract
THE AUTHOR BELIEVES THAT INMATES SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO SEND AND RECEIVE MAIL FREE FROM CENSORSHIP. DUE PROCESS OF LAW SHOULD BE ADHERED TO WHEN THERE IS AN INFRACTION OF REGULATIONS. SOLITARY CONFINEMENT SHOULD BE DEEMED CRUEL AND UNUSUAL PUNISHMENT. A HEAVY BURDEN SHOULD FALL ON THE STATE WHEN IT IS CALLED UPON TO JUSTIFY A DENIAL OF CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS.
