The problem of establishing whether or not certain fibrous textile is the source of a particular single fiber collected from a crime scene is discussed in this paper.
Abstract
A single evidential fiber present at a crime scene can be associated with four major events. These are fiber transfer, persistence after transfer, evidence collection, and fiber analysis. These events are reviewed by drawing on both published research and general scientific principles. (Author abstract)
