Abstract
The authors, most from minority backgrounds, cover drug abuse research issues and describe drug abuse patterns among black, Hispanic, Asian, and American Indian populations. Individual chapters present guidelines for comparing competitive research proposals, discuss theory and methodological issues, and review selected Federal efforts to encourage minority drug abuse research and researchers. Further papers present research results relating to specific ethnic and minority groups, examine drug abuse among adolescents and homeless persons, describe a psychosocial model for planning programs for the prevention of deviance, and summarize findings from drug treatment research.
