Abstract
THIS BOOK IS BASED ON THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE NATIONAL CONFERENCE ON ENERGY AUDITING AND CONSERVATION, HELD AT CASE WESTERN RESERVE UNIVERSITY (OHIO) IN MARCH 1979. CHAPTERS DISCUSS WAYS FOR MANAGEMENT TO IMPLEMENT ENERGY MACROAUDITS AND MICROAUDITS, MAJOR GRANT PROGRAMS TO PROMOTE ENERGY OCNSERVATION, STATE QUALIFICATION PROGRAMS FOR ENERGY AUDITORS, SYSTEMS ANALYSIS OF ENERGY CONVERSATION AND HEAT RECOVERY IN THE INDUSTRIAL AND COMMERCIAL BUILDING SECTOR, AND METHODS OF ENERGY WASTE MEASUREMENT. USES OF INFRARED THERMOGRAPHY FOR INDUSTRIAL ENERGY CONSERVATION, ECONOMIC ANALYSIS OF ENERGY MANAGEMENT, ENERGY ANALYSIS TECHNIQUES, ENERGY AUDITS AND MANAGEMENT, AND UTILITY RATE ECONOMICS ARE ALSO DISCUSSED. A CHAPTER EXAMINES AN ENERGY AUDIT PROGRAM FOR NEW MEXICO'S PUBLIC SCHOOLS. DETAILS OF THE ORIGINAL ENERGY AUDITS AND THE CURRENT AUDITS ARE PROVIDED; CRITICAL INTERFACE BETWEEN FACILITIES INVENTORY PROGRAMS AND ENERGY AUDITS IS DESCRIBED; AND THE IMPACT OF NEW MEXICO'S METHOD OF PAYMENT OF SCHOOL UTILITY BILLS IS PRESENTED. ANOTHER ENERGY MANAGEMENT CASE STUDY DESCRIBES THE RESULTS OF SITE AND BUILDING ENERGY SURVEYS CARRIED OUT FOR THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY. THE BOOK PROVIDES A WORKBOOK RESOURCE FOR EXEMPLIFYING TECHNO-SCIENTIFIC BASES FOR ENERGY AUDITING BY ADDRESSING TECHNICAL AND SCIENTIFIC PROCESS CRITERIA FOR PUBLIC POLICY DECISIONMAKING. CHAPTERS INCLUDE DIAGRAMS, TABULAR DATA, ILLUSTRATIONS, AND FOOTNOTES.
