Abstract
This volume includes descriptions of all the great Western legends including Billy the Kid, Wild Bill Hickock, the Jesse James gang, Wyatt Earp, Doc Holliday, Judge Roy Bean, and Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. In addition to these mythical figures, the book covers all the lesser-known people who made the history of the West. Several women including Calamity Jane, Belle Starr, and Cattle Kate Watson also rose to fame in the rough-and-tumble world of the West. In addition to the alphabetical entries, the book contains two glossaries listing Western lawmen and outlaws for quick reference, a photo and illustration appendix, and an extensive bibliography.
