This article discusses measures taken in Illinois to implement and institutionalize the Elderly Service Officer (ESO) concept.
Abstract
An ESO is an advanced generalist dedicated to hardening older persons against violent crimes and scams. In the fall of 1992, the Illinois Attorney General's Office funded a concept proposal calling for a P.O.S.T. certified, 40-hour curriculum for ESOs. This article provides details of the curriculum for this course.
