Inmates at a coeducational federal correctional institution were followed while incarcerated to determine changes in ego-strength.
Abstract
Significant increases were found among females. Whites had higher ego-strength than nonwhites both at the time of initial incarceration and at discharge. Results are discussed in terms of women developing a sense of autonomy after being separated from their male crime partners. (Author abstract)
