The first section presents questions and answers about domestic violence: what causes violence, the involvement of drugs and alcohol in domestic violence, risk factors for children, and the effects on children in terms of depression, peer relationships, personality characteristics, and future adulthood experiences. The second section discusses the cycle of domestic violence, the components of which are pre-existing conditions, the initiating incident, domestic violence, and continuation of the cycle. The pamphlet covers conditions that contribute to domestic violence, signs that a child may be experiencing violence at home, ways to break the cycle, and sources of help and information.
