This newsletter reports on a 12-week international training course designed to discuss issues of corruption of public officials in their duties and to offer solutions for ensuring the effective administration of justice for these offenders.
Abstract
During this 12-week course, a forum of international participants gathered to hear lectures and presentations, to engage in group workshops, and to discuss issues relevant to enhancing the transparency and accountability of public officials around the world. Corruption is increasing in both seriousness and form around the world. Without a comprehensive plan in place to combat such criminal activity, corruption may erode the trust of the public in its government and other public forums. The workshops and lectures offered during the 12-week course examined measures that could be taken to enhance the detection, punishment, deterrence, and prevention of corruption. Special events at the 12-week course are described and a listing of all participants and visiting experts is enclosed. Finally, a list of all the reference materials used in the course are presented, as is a description about future programs and a listing of the staff and faculty members of UNAFEI.
