This report details the purposes and activities of the Edna McConnell Clark Foundation, which funds programs in five areas related to poor and disadvantaged people: children, disadvantaged youth, homeless families, justice, and tropical disease research.
Abstract
The foundation focuses on outcomes and on changing the institutions, policies, and systems affecting poor people. The children's program focuses on making intensive family preservation services, based on a model called Homebuilders, part of the regular continuum of services to troubled families. The Disadvantaged Youth Program seeks to promote urban middle school reform around improved student achievement. The Homeless Families Program aims to integrate formerly homeless families into renovated apartment buildings and new neighborhoods in New York City. The Justice Program seeks to reduce the unnecessary incarceration of offenders who do not jeopardize public safety and to expand the range of sanctions between probation and imprisonment. The tropical disease program focuses on schistosomiasis, onchocerciasis, and trachoma. Lists of grants and programs, financial statements, publications, and grant application steps
