This study compared the perceptions held by drug users and dealers in Central Lambeth, England, of the local drug problem with those of residents not involved in the drug scene.
Abstract
Interviews were conducted with drug users and dealers, as well as with residents involved in activities aimed at the well-being of the community, i.e., voluntary organizations, youth clubs, and political groups. The results showed that views on the drug problem varied according to the distance of the informant from the drug milieu. The study found that respondents were more concerned with problematic drug use than with drug use in general. The respondents also discussed various approaches to drug prevention. 3 references
