Abstract
The basic facts about drugs, such as the common types of medicine, commonly abused drugs, and the drug abuse problem, are presented. What a narcotic is, how it works, and the dangers of taking them are examined. Stimulants, such as caffeine, tobacco, amphetamines, cocaine, and crack are discussed, along with treatment for cocaine addiction. The effects of hallucinogenic drugs such as LSD, PCP, mescaline, peyote, and marijuana are explored. Depressants in the form of barbiturates are focused upon with emphasis on alcoholic beverages, their effects and special dangers. Mixing drugs and steroids with sports is discouraged. The illegality of drugs is emphasized along with ways to get high naturally and without drugs. Myths about drugs are listed and explained.
