Because of the alleged loss of productivity and the potential for damage caused by drug-using employees, many employers are turning to drug testing in an effort to eliminate drug users from the workplace.
Abstract
Drug tests may include pre-employment screening, regularly scheduled testing, and testing on demand warranted by accidents or work failures. Public policy issues in drug testing include test implementation and standardization, as well as employee rights and civil liberties. To help the U.S. Congress control and monitor the growing amount of information on drug testing, a bibliographic guide has been prepared. The first part of the guide presents a selected group of articles and editorials on drug testing, while the second part contains a list of relevant Congressional Research Service reports. The third part describes information resources available through automated catalogs of the Library of Congress. The final two parts of the guide provide information on Library of Congress resources and on how to order additional information.
