Abstract
In presenting opposing viewpoints on how the war on drugs should be waged, differing views of the Reagan administration's approach are presented, and the pros and cons of legalizing narcotic drug use are considered. Opposing viewpoints on the use of military intervention in the war on drugs are also presented. In discussing the effectiveness of international drug campaigns, opposing viewpoints consider the success of U.S. international efforts, the value of pressuring foreign governments to stop drug trafficking, and the impact of narcotics control on foreign relations. Issues discussed in drug testing are workers' rights, testing reliability, and mandatory drug testing for students. Opposing views pertaining to the drug problem in sports consider whether drugs should be banned from sports, the testing of athletes, and the use of steroids. Views on the prescribing of legal drugs concern overprescription, the use of generic drugs, and the medicinal use of marijuana. Chapter periodical bibliographies, a 20-item book bibliography, subject index.
