Abstract
A newspaper article analyzes the recent increase in marijuana use and warns of a corresponding increase in cocaine and crack use. An excerpt from the Budget of the United States Government (Fiscal Year 1995) lists the funds allocated for drug treatment and prevention. A health care fact sheet presents statistics on drug use among Americans age 12 and older. Another fact sheet surveys specific drugs (tobacco, alcohol, cannabis, etc.) and their effects on users. A CRS (Congressional Research Service Brief) explains the policy and legislation of the 103rd Congress of the United States to control the supply of drugs: to reduce drug use through treatment, to curb drug-related violence, to create safe, drug-free schools, and to increase international drug control. Four CRS reports focus on (1) the efforts of Congress to control international drug production and use, (2) the different Federal agencies involved in international drug control and their budgets, (3) an explanation of the Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act, and (4) a summary of the Alcohol, Drug Abuse, and Mental Health Administration (ADAMHA) Reorganization Act of 1992.
