This report presents the inmate population forecasts by the Delaware Department of Corrections from December 31, 1991 to December 31, 1993.
Abstract
The report describes the total population of detained and sentenced persons and the subpopulations of pretrial detentions, jail inmates with sentences of 1 year and less, and prison inmates with sentences greater than 1 year. The tables contain the actual and forecasted admissions and population, the difference, and the difference expressed as a percentage of the actual. The tables reveal that total admissions for the fourth quarter of 1993 were 3,359, or 5.4 percent below the forecast of 3,551. The population at the end of the quarter was 4,274, or 9.4 percent below the forecasted 4,719. The three crimes for which the combination of admissions and population were higher or lower than the normal variation for the total forecast were capias/contempt admissions, which were 19.6 percent below forecast; miscellaneous admissions, which were 31 percent above forecast; and probation violation admissions, which were 23.9 percent below forecast.
