Terrorist activities have not only disrupted the political, social, and economic life of many States, but also affected the perception, attitude, thinking, and motivation of the common man.
Abstract
A preliminary scale with emphasis on the dimensions which may accelerate or inhibit terrorism is constructed to assess the attitude of the public toward terrorism and political violence. The measure is tested with a sample of 108 educated, medium income subjects from mostly urban areas. Internal consistency and reliability are calculated for the 44 items which have five response categories. For program planning purposes, the aggregate rating is intended as a diagnostic tool to measure public attitude towards terrorism and its control. Table, 9 references. (Author abstract modified)
