Budgets are presented for 1989-90 and 1990-91, and expenditures are listed for 1989-90. Changes in police and civilian personnel during 1990 are presented, and total departmental police personnel by sex and race are shown as of December 31, 1990. Personnel separations by race and sex are also indicated. The number and disposition of offenses known to police in 1990 are presented, along with the number of offenses reported for 1990 and 1989 in various categories. The distribution of certain offenses is indicated by day of the week, hour of the day, and by precinct. Homicides, assaults, and robberies are reported by race, sex, and type of weapon. Arrest statistics are presented by race and sex and by age and sex. Statistics on objects of attack are shown for robbery, burglary, and larceny. Other statistics pertain to a 5-year comparison of criminal offenses, a 25-year comparison of crime and arrests, accidents, youth section activities, traffic violations, parking violations, and police vehicle activity.
