This article discusses how and why youth gangs occur.
Abstract
Although there is not much youth gang activity reported in Indian country, there is enough that many Indian communities are taking action to curb the development of such gangs. The author lists seven conditions that indicate the existence of gangs and discusses gang characteristics, which youths are at risk, why youths join gangs, and where to obtain more information on youth gangs.
