This document provides comprehensive and updated information on death row inmates in the U.S.
Abstract
The first section contains an essay arguing that economic status, not race, determines whether or not a defendant will be sentenced to death, and a presentation of statistics on capital punishment. The second section consists of detailed profiles of 12 death row inmates, describing their purported crimes, trials, and sentencing. The bulk of the document contains selected vignettes and an alphabetical listing of the 2,928 inmates currently on death row, as well as a chronological listing of the 257 death row inmates executed since 1977.
