This videotape cassette and slide program provides advice for airport security officers on how to deal with people.
Abstract
The two goals of maintaining good security and helping passengers are emphasized. Slides depict the metal detection gates, the hand-held metal detectors, and the X-ray machine for hand luggage. Other slides demonstrate how security officers can look like professionals. They must have a neat and clean appearance; they must stand properly and look alert; and they should not smoke or chew gum. The means of communicating friendliness through eye contact, friendly greetings, and body language are also depicted. Officers are advised to remain patient with disgruntled passengers, to resist arguing back, and to avoid bending the rules. Suggestions are presented for coping with specific problems. Printed materials are not included.
