The Datalux Tracer 2000 Series computer system fits all makes and models of police vehicles, is as fast as a radio, and offers law enforcement agencies more privacy and far greater flexibility than previously in moving crucial information to police officers.
Abstract
The system is network ready for mobile and desktop use and is tailored to provide police agencies with more versatility and greater mobile data access than were provided by previous systems. The Maryland National Capital Park Police obtained Federal grant money to install the Datalux computers in its squad cars. Police officers appreciate the ability to control screen brightness and having a screen at dashboard level so that it does not divert their attention. Electronic mail is one of the greatest efficiencies made available through the Datalux systems. Datalux markets three types of mobile computer systems. Installation initially takes about 1 hour. Replacing or swapping units in the squad car takes just 15 minutes. A DC-to-DC converter regulates voltage and prevents the computer from rebooting should voltage drop when the engine cranks. A sturdy fixed-mount keeps the unit secure and eliminates vibration. Photographs
