This paper examines the subject of criminal investigator selection procedures and selection criteria in the United States and West Germany.
Abstract
A major portion of the paper is devoted to data from a survey conducted in December, 1984 of 133 United States police departments dealing with the subject of selection criteria, selection procedures, and training of officers for CID assignments. Survey findings suggest that United States Police agencies utilize a variety of criteria for selection of investigators. The West German approach to selection is described as more uniform and formal than procedures and requirements throughout the United States. (Publisher abstract)
