A 1980 telephone survey of a representative sample of Nebraska citizens revealed that 1 in 4 of the survey respondents were victims of an offense in the 12 months preceding the survey.
Abstract
More than three-fourths of all victimizations involved vandalism and larceny-theft. A total of 59 percent of the offenses were reported to law enforcement officials. Motor vehicle theft, robbery, and burglary were most frequently reported. Young, urban and middle-income respondents were the most likely to become victims of crime. Other findings such as victim characteristics, economic losses to victims, and citizen attitudes about crime and criminal justice are also reported. A total of 22 figures are included.
