AN ANALYSIS OF THE SOCIAL AND ORGANIZATIONAL FACTORS THAT HAVE STRAINED THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM TO THE BREAKING POINT.
Abstract
THE AUTHOR EXAMINES FOUR MAJOR STRESS FACTORS INHERENT IN THE SYSTEM FOR THE ADMINISTRATION OF JUSTICE. THESE STRESS FACTORS ARE CONFLICTING IDEOLOGIES, PLANNING DEFICIENCIES, ROLE AMBIGUITIES AND CONFLICTS, AND THE FAILURE TO INTRODUCE SOUND MANAGERIAL PRINCIPLES. ALSO DISCUSSED ARE THE EFFECTS THESE STRESS FACTORS HAVE ON THE VARIOUS CRIMINAL JUSTICE AGENCIES AND ON OFFENDERS, WHO CONSTITUTE A CLIENT GROUP.
