THE PRINCIPLES OF MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEMS ARE APPLIED TO PRIVACY, CONFIDENTIALITY, AND SECURITY CONSIDERATIONS INVOLVED WITH THE OPERATION OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE INFORMATION SYSTEMS.
Abstract
THESE PRINCIPLES HOLD THAT THERE SHOULD BE NO SECRET PERSONAL INFORMATION SYSTEMS, ONLY THAT INFORMATION NEEDED FOR LAWFUL AND AUTHORIZED PURPOSES SHOULD BE GATHERED, INFORMATION SHOULD BE KEPT ACCURATE, COMPLETE, RELEVANT AND TIMELY, THE SUBJECT SHOULD HAVE ACCESS TO HIS OWN FILES, INFORMATION SHOULD BE USED ONLY FOR THE PURPOSES FOR WHICH IT WAS COLLECTED, AND REASONABLE SAFEGUARDS SHOULD BE PROVIDED FOR THE INFORMATION.
